In eye care only.

AI-targeted search finds the people who are not on job boards. A recruiter who has worked inside ophthalmology since 2002 screens every one of them before a practice sees a name.

AI-targeted search

The same AI systems built for businesses now run the search.

Paul Stubenbordt has designed and deployed AI integrations for medical practices and companies outside healthcare: AI phone agents, live sales avatars, automated video and marketing pipelines. Denali Recruiting points that technology at one problem: finding the right person for an eye care practice.

No candidate reaches a practice without a human screen. The AI widens the search and removes the busywork. Judgment about fit, compensation and timing stays with the recruiter.

Illustration of the process. Profiles are examples, not real candidates.

01 · PROFILE

Your opening becomes a search profile

Subspecialty, surgical volume, EHR, compensation, location, reporting line and culture are captured on the scoping call and turned into criteria the AI can search against.

  • Structured from the scoping call
  • Weighted to what the practice cares about most
  • Updated as the search learns
02 · FIND & REACH

AI finds people who are not on job boards

The profile is matched against public professional data and Denali's candidate database, then used to build targeted search, social and video audiences so the opening reaches working professionals in the right places.

  • Licensing, fellowship and publication data
  • Targeted ad audiences by specialty and market
  • Personalized first outreach
03 · SCREEN

AI organizes. The recruiter decides.

Responses are collected, summarized and scheduled automatically. Every candidate is then interviewed by the recruiter on video, with license and credential checks and references, before a practice sees a name.

  • Automated scheduling and follow-up
  • Plain-language candidate summaries
  • Recorded video interviews and reference checks

Who runs the search

Searches scoped around surgical volume, subspecialty and how the clinic actually runs.

A good hire in eye care depends on details a general healthcare recruiter rarely asks about: premium lens conversion, lanes and techs per surgeon, co-management relationships, which EHR the clinic runs, and who the new hire reports to. Those are the first questions on every scoping call, and they are what the AI search is built from.

Paul Stubenbordt founded Denali Recruiting in 2018 after sixteen years in ophthalmology practice marketing and business development. He handles each search himself, so the practice talks to the person doing the work.

Denali Recruiting helped our practice find the most outstanding and experienced doctors and practice administrator. I would highly recommend them to anyone searching for a new recruiting firm.

How a search runs

Four steps. One person accountable for all of them.

Staff searches often move in weeks. Physician and administrator searches take longer, and the timeline is set on the scoping call rather than promised up front.

  1. 1

    Scope the role

A call with the owner or administrator: duties, surgical volume, EHR, compensation range, who the hire reports to and what went wrong last time. Terms are confirmed in writing before the search starts.

  2. 2

    AI-targeted search

The profile drives candidate matching, targeted search, social and video audiences, and personalized first outreach. Many of the strongest candidates are not actively looking.

  3. 3

    Video interviews

Every candidate who clears outreach is interviewed by the recruiter on Zoom or Google Meet, recorded with their permission. No phone screens. License and credential checks and references run alongside.

  4. 4

    Shortlist, then placement

You receive only the top candidates: highlight clips from each video interview, license and credential verification, references, and a plain written summary. Then offer support, start-date coordination and a check-in after the first weeks.

Before you reach out

Fees, timing, confidentiality and what happens next.

If your question is not here, call (682) 831-0900 and ask.

What does AI-targeted recruiting mean here?
The practice's requirements (subspecialty, surgical volume, location, compensation, workflow) become a search profile. AI tools built by Denali search public professional data, build targeted ad audiences, run the first outreach and organize responses. The recruiter reviews every match and makes every judgment call. No candidate is presented to a practice without a human screen.
What roles does Denali Recruiting place?
Ophthalmologists (comprehensive, cataract, refractive, retina, glaucoma, cornea and oculoplastics), optometrists, practice administrators and managers, ophthalmic technicians, surgical and refractive coordinators, front desk and support staff, and per diem clinical help.
How are fees structured?
The practice pays the fee; candidates never do. Physician and leadership searches are retained: part of the fee begins the search and the balance is due at placement. Staff roles can be handled on a contingency basis, paid only when a hire starts. Terms are confirmed in writing before any search begins.
Is a candidate inquiry confidential?
Yes. Your name, résumé and current employer are never shared with a practice without your permission, and candidates are never charged a fee.
How long does a search take?
Staff and coordinator roles often fill within weeks. Optometrist, ophthalmologist and administrator searches take longer, commonly several months, depending on subspecialty, location and compensation. A realistic timeline is set during the scoping call.
What happens after I send an inquiry?
A practice gets a scoping call with the recruiter to cover the role, surgical volume, workflow, compensation and reporting line, followed by a written search agreement. A candidate gets a confidential call to discuss goals, preferred locations and timing before any practice is contacted.
